Ekrem Imamoglu arrested: The Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office announced that arrest warrants have been issued for more than 100 people, including Ekrem Imamoglu, Mayor of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, for various crimes.
Arrest charge
According to a statement from the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor’s Office, Imamoglu was detained as part of two separate investigations by the Terrorist Crimes Investigation Department and the Organized Crimes Investigation Department.
His degree was also revoked
Istanbul University announced that the degrees of Imamoglu and 28 others have been revoked. This action has caused widespread concern and reactions in Turkish society.
