Fires Continue in Antalya and Muğla
Large-scale fires that started in the Gazipaşa and Alanya districts of Antalya province and the Ortaca district of Muğla province continue to burn. Extinguishing operations are ongoing with land and aerial support.
In the Doğanca area of Gazipaşa, a fire that started yesterday noon spread due to strong winds, reaching the Gürçam and Çile areas. All homes in Gürçam were preventively evacuated as flames approached.
Throughout the night, operations continued with heavy machinery and firefighting vehicles. This morning, aerial support was reinforced with multiple helicopters and planes. Water resources are being drawn from specialized pools and the sea, then transported to fire-affected areas.
A major fire also broke out in the Söğüt Yaylası (Söğüt Highlands) of Alanya, where containment efforts persist.
The spread of the fire in Gazipaşa brought flames near Mersin’s Anamur district. As a precaution against potential spread, teams from the Forest Management Directorate and Anamur Municipality took preventive measures. By order of the Anamur District Governor’s Office, 125 people from Karaağaç neighborhood and 139 people from Lale neighborhood were temporarily evacuated. Additionally, 260 small livestock were relocated to safe areas. District Governor Kemal Duru visited the site and spoke with residents.
In the Sarıgerme area of Ortaca district, a fire ignited in farmland and spread to forests. Teams from Muğla Regional Directorate of Forestry are battling the blaze using ground and aerial equipment.
