Devlet Bahçeli Condemns U.S. Intervention in Venezuela
Devlet Bahçeli, leader of Turkey’s Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), in his party’s parliamentary group meeting, described the United States’ military intervention in Venezuela as an “illegitimate and unlawful coup” and strongly condemned it. He emphasized that the fate of President Nicolás Maduro must be determined by the people of Venezuela and called for his immediate return to his country.
Bahçeli, pointing to the similarity of this action with the failed coup attempt of July 15, 2016 in Turkey, said: “What happened in Caracas is a new version of banditry and the forced transfer of a leader. The treachery of FETÖ in Turkey was defeated, but the midnight coup in Venezuela is the product of the same project.”
Criticizing U.S. government policies, Bahçeli added: “The statement of the U.S. President regarding control over Venezuela and its energy resources has revealed the face of renewed colonialism and imperialist expansionism. The main objective is domination over energy, precious metals, and mineral resources.”

The MHP leader also warned about the global consequences of this action, saying: “The unlawful coup in Venezuela demonstrates the transition from proxy wars to direct use of force. The crises in Iran, Taiwan, Gaza, Somalia, Yemen, Sudan, Ethiopia, and the Russia-Ukraine war all indicate the blockage of the path to global peace and security.”
Bahçeli, continuing his remarks, criticized Israel’s policies and personally Benjamin Netanyahu, calling on the global Jewish community to take a moral and conscientious initiative to stop the violence in Gaza and to defend shared human values.
In conclusion, he stressed that despite difficult regional and global conditions, Turkey will continue on the path of a “terror-free Turkey” with patience and determination, and will not allow the country to fall into the trap of internal conflicts or foreign schemes.
