Emphasis on Boosting Border Markets in Iran-Turkey Parliamentary Meeting
In this meeting, Mousavi highlighted the shared historical, cultural, and religious background of Iran and Turkey, stressing the necessity of strengthening parliamentary relations and expanding strategic cooperation between Tehran and Ankara. He underscored the importance of greater convergence among Islamic countries in addressing regional challenges and developments, and emphasized the significance of holding the ninth meeting of the Iran-Turkey High Council for Cooperation as well as the exchange of governmental and parliamentary delegations.
The member of the Presidium of the Civil Engineering Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly also pointed to the importance of border markets, stating that cross-border trade and the activity of these markets play a vital role in enhancing security and improving the livelihoods of border residents. He added that with the support of the parliaments of both countries, this trade could flourish further. Mousavi noted that Iran and Turkey, as two key countries in the region and the Islamic world, with shared interests and common views, can play an effective role in strengthening the position of the Islamic world.

Later in the meeting, Abdulrahim Dosak emphasized Turkey’s determination to expand relations in various fields, particularly parliamentary ties. He stated that Turkey is committed to elevating bilateral cooperation in economic, commercial, and political domains. Dosak also called for the development of provincial cooperation in border areas and crossing points, and for the adoption of necessary measures to boost the vitality of border markets.
