The Freedom Flotilla 2: The Ultimate Goal Is to Break the Siege of Gaza
The Global Freedom Flotilla 2, which is preparing for the next stage after stopping in Italy, will resume its mission starting today (Sunday) to break the siege of the Gaza Strip by the Israeli regime and deliver humanitarian aid to the residents of this region.
This flotilla is a popular and civil initiative formed in 2025 with the participation of representatives from civil organizations, activists, and volunteers from various countries. The flotilla is now conducting its second voyage as part of the “Spring 2026 Mission.” The ships of this flotilla set sail from Barcelona, Spain, on April 12 and arrived in Sicily on April 23, where they merged with other boats participating in the flotilla.
A member of the flotilla’s board of directors described the first stage of the journey as successful and said: “Along the route, a large cargo ship bound for the Israeli regime was forced to change course.” He emphasized that the ultimate goal is to reach Gaza and break its siege.
Political activists accompanying the convoy stated that the mission’s objective is to create a humanitarian and popular corridor and to end the siege of Gaza. They expressed hope that this time, with an increased number of ships and greater readiness, the mission will succeed. An Italian activist also stressed in this regard that the greatest danger is the silence of official and international institutions.
The flotilla’s spokesperson in Italy, referring to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, announced that this mission has been resumed in response to the lack of improvement in the region’s situation, and its goal is to establish a permanent humanitarian passageway.
It is worth noting that approximately 100 ships from various countries, including Spain, Italy, Greece, and Turkey, are participating in this mission.
