Official Welcome Ceremony for Malaysian Prime Minister in Ankara
President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, officially welcomed Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday at the Presidential Complex in Beştepe, Ankara.
Mounted troops escorted the official vehicle of the Malaysian Prime Minister from the street in front of the Beştepe Complex to the ceremonial gate. Erdoğan greeted Ibrahim at the main entrance of the complex. Following the performance of the national anthems of both countries, 21 ceremonial cannon shots were fired, and 16 soldiers carrying flags symbolizing the 16 historic Turkish states were present at the ceremony.
Anwar Ibrahim then reviewed the guard of honor. Afterwards, the two leaders introduced their delegations to each other and posed for a commemorative photo in front of the Turkish and Malaysian flags at the steps of the Beştepe Complex.
Erdoğan and Ibrahim will attend the first meeting of the Turkey–Malaysia High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council and the signing ceremony of bilateral agreements. A joint press conference will follow.
The official program will continue with the participation of both leaders in an award ceremony and a formal dinner.
