Erdoğan Emphasized the Need for Negotiation Between Iran and the USA
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, upon his return from his visits to Saudi Arabia and Egypt, emphasized the vital importance of dialogue in resolving tensions between Tehran and Washington during a conversation with journalists.
In this conversation, Erdoğan stated: “Establishing a negotiation table (for Iran and the USA) is important. We hope that problems are resolved through dialogue and that no new conflict emerges in our region.” Referring to the sensitivity of the region, he added: “More than anything, we do not want a new war in our region. I have always declared this clearly, and I will continue to do so.”
The Turkish President, in another part of his remarks, pointed to the achievements of his recent visit to Saudi Arabia and said: “We are in the process of signing important cooperation agreements with Saudi Arabia in the field of defense industries and are determined to further develop these cooperations.” He also explained about the “KAAN” fighter jet project: “Many negotiations have taken place regarding the KAAN fighter jet. The possibility of a joint investment with Saudi Arabia is also on the table. There is a possibility that this project will be realized in the near future.”
Regarding the Gaza crisis, Erdoğan said: “Turkey will play an effective role in the proper implementation of the Gaza peace plan and the re-establishment of peace and stability in Gaza. We want our Palestinian brothers in Gaza to achieve a future with dignity and lasting peace.” He condemned Israel’s actions: “Israel’s relentless attacks and violation of the ceasefire are unacceptable. We call on the international community to put pressure on Israel to fully comply with the ceasefire.”
Regarding Syria, Erdoğan emphasized: “We want a united, strong, and peaceful Syria with all its colors. We stand by Syria and embrace everyone, regardless of ethnicity or religion.”
The Turkish President concluded by referring to the fight against terrorism, saying: “Turkey’s goal of being cleared of terrorism is transforming into the goal of a region cleared of terrorism.” With a clear warning, he stressed: “No one should entertain the thought of increasing tensions. Miscalculation is doomed to failure.”
