Turkish Representative: Foreign interference in Irans internal affairs is unacceptable
Abdülkadir Önen, the President of the Parliamentary Group of Turkey in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, met and held talks with Hamidreza Hajibabaei, the Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran.
Abdülkadir Önen stated in this meeting: “We explicitly declare that we consider Iran’s security as our own security. Iran’s stability is vital for Turkey, and we consider any country’s interference in Iran’s internal affairs as unacceptable; just as we do not allow such interference regarding Turkey.”
Referring to the key role of Iran and Turkey in establishing peace and stability in the region, he added: “The prosperity of the region is only possible under the shadow of lasting security. Iran and Turkey are two important and influential actors, and Turkey will support Iran in all fields.”
This Turkish parliamentary official also congratulated Iran on hosting the Asian Parliamentary Assembly next year and thanked the performance of the Assembly’s permanent secretariat in Tehran.
In this meeting, Hamidreza Hajibabaei emphasized the necessity for the Asian Parliamentary Assembly’s positions to become more transparent and operational, saying: “This assembly should express its positions regarding the actions of the Zionist regime, which target the security of all countries in the region, more clearly and transparently.”
The Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, while appreciating the brotherly positions of the Turkish government and parliament, stated: “We will gladly participate in the upcoming Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) summit in Turkey to further strengthen the parliamentary ties between the two countries.”
In another part of his remarks, Hajibabaei referred to recent internal incidents and said: “Popular protests based on economic issues can occur in any country, but in recent events, organized opposition groups with foreign support sought to exploit and turn protests into insecurity. The country’s security forces, with wisdom and authority, stood against this conspiracy and neutralized it.”
