Güler: Iran inflicted heavy blows on PJAK
Turkey’s Minister of National Defense, Yaşar Güler, announced that the terrorist group PJAK, during the 12‑day war between Iran and Israel, had prepared itself for regime change under the assumption that Iran would be defeated. He emphasized that this scenario did not materialize, and Iran, through precise counter‑terrorism operations, inflicted heavy losses on the group.
Güler added: PJAK expected that the conflict between Iran and Israel would lead to the collapse of the Iranian government. However, the course of the war unfolded contrary to the group’s expectations, and ultimately Iran dealt serious blows to it through military actions.
The Turkish Defense Minister also referred to PKK’s attempts to transfer weapons and fighters from northern Iraq into Iran, saying: After the start of the PKK disarmament process, a large number of the group’s elements tried to move into Iran along with their equipment. According to him, these movements were reported to Tehran on a daily basis, and the Iranian side carried out operations at appropriate times, which led to a deeper understanding of PJAK’s true nature.
In another part of his remarks, Güler stressed Ankara’s readiness for possible operations against terrorist groups in northern Syria, noting: Since 2016, in the presence of the United States and Russia, we have conducted our operations in Syria without seeking permission from any party. In the future as well, if necessary, we will carry out the required actions without coordination with others.
