Hakan Fidan: Turkish Diplomacy as the Architect of Global Peace and Stability
Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the 16th Ambassadors Conference in Ankara, held under the theme “Foreign Policy for Peace, Stability, and Prosperity.”
Highlighting the paralysis of the international system and the dysfunction of crisis-resolution mechanisms, Fidan stressed: “We must rely on diplomatic tools to build our own peace, stability, and prosperity.”
Fidan stated that meeting with ambassadors provides an opportunity to combine central vision with field experience, leading to a shared understanding. He added that the conference allows for a focus on the broader picture of foreign policy.
Recalling the historic role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within the state structure, the Minister emphasized: “Today, we draw our strength from the national will and the strong stance of our President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has led our country for a quarter of a century. With determination, we are building the vision of the Century of Türkiye.”

Fidan described Türkiye as one of the few countries with a deep-rooted diplomatic tradition and institutional memory, noting that its strong diplomacy has the capacity to overcome challenges. He underlined that in today’s unpredictable era, the role of diplomats is more vital than ever.
He continued: “Our foreign policy is guided by a 360-degree perspective, serving both as the architect and the carrier of the Century of Türkiye vision. We are building a respected and pioneering Türkiye that ensures regional security and prosperity, plays a decisive role in the global order, enhances its competitiveness in international trade, and contributes uniquely in political, economic, and cultural terms.”
Fidan also referred to Türkiye’s active role in global crises—from mediating in the Russia–Ukraine war and efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza, to supporting the Syrian people. He emphasized that Türkiye’s active diplomacy ensures a strong presence in both regional and global equations.
Pointing to the need for reform in international structures, including the United Nations Security Council, Fidan said that countries offering innovative initiatives and creative solutions will stand out.
In conclusion, Fidan expressed gratitude to ambassadors and their families, underlined the importance of unity and solidarity in realizing Türkiye’s vision, and honored the memory of fallen diplomats.
