Iran-Turkey Friendship Group Meeting in Ankara
In the meeting between the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ankara and the Chairman of the Iran-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Group, emphasis was placed on expanding economic relations and strengthening regional cooperation between the two countries.
Kihan Turkmenoglu, Chairman of the Iran-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Group and Member of Parliament for Van in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, met and held talks with Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ankara.
The meeting was also attended by Benyamin Bozgik, Vice-Chairman of the Iran-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Group. During the discussions, ways to enhance economic and trade relations between the two countries were reviewed, with particular focus on regional cooperation in border provinces such as Van and West Azerbaijan, as well as Turkey’s Gaziantep Province.
Other topics raised in the meeting included the development of border crossings and road networks, improvement of transportation, the inauguration of Iran’s new Consulate General in Van, the project for electricity connection and exchange between Iran and Turkey, the establishment of a joint free trade zone, and the organization of an economic meeting of governors from the border provinces of both countries. The parties stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of these cooperation projects.
