Turkey: Israels action is piracy
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the Zionist regime’s interception of a maritime convoy carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza as piracy and called on the international community to show a united reaction against this act.
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while condemning Israel’s intervention against the aid convoy heading to Gaza, described this act as a clear violation of international law and human values.
The ministry’s statement said: By attacking the international Freedom Flotilla, which was moving to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis of the people of Gaza, Israel has targeted human values and international laws.
Ankara also emphasized that this act violates the principle of freedom of navigation in international waters and called on the international community to take a united and decisive stance against this illegal behavior.
The statement added that Turkey, in coordination with relevant countries, is taking all necessary measures to follow up on the situation of its citizens and other passengers on this flotilla.
According to this humanitarian group, Israeli naval forces have surrounded the said convoy in international waters near the island of Crete and have cut off its contact with 11 other ships by disrupting its communication system.
The aforementioned flotilla, which was carrying over 400 civilians towards Gaza, had set out with the aim of creating a humanitarian maritime corridor and sending aid to the region.
