Turkey joins the Russia US diesel agreement
Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, said in an interview that Russia has reached an agreement with the US President on diesel, and that in our negotiations it was agreed that Turkey would receive part of this shipment.
Emphasizing the importance of this agreement for Turkey’s energy security, he added that Ankara depends on Russia, as well as Iran, Azerbaijan, and other countries, to meet part of its energy needs, and that it is trying to diversify its energy supply sources through deals with the US and other partners.
Turkey’s energy minister continued: In recent months, after a problem arose, Russia imposed restrictions on diesel exports; now Russia has reached an agreement with Trump on diesel, and in the negotiations held, we will receive part of this diesel.
Bayraktar also said that Turkey plans to commission its second floating natural gas production platform in the first quarter of 2028; this platform will raise Turkey’s daily gas production capacity in the Black Sea to 45 million cubic meters.
On Thursday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak also said that Russian diesel is in high demand in global markets, and that in addition to the United States, other consumers are also interested in it.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had earlier held a telephone conversation with the US President, and it was announced that an agreement on diesel supply from Russia had been reached in that conversation.
