Erdoğan: War has weakened Europe
The President of Turkey warned in a telephone conversation with his German counterpart that the continuation of wars in the region has significantly weakened Europe.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Wednesday: “The war in the region has weakened Europe, and if a peaceful approach is not adopted, this weakening process will intensify.”
According to a statement from Turkey’s Directorate of Communications, the two sides discussed and exchanged views on bilateral relations as well as regional and global developments during the phone call.
In the conversation, Erdoğan emphasized that relations between Ankara and Berlin have gained positive momentum in recent years. He also added that Turkey, through diplomatic negotiations, is striving both to end the war against Iran and to resolve the Ukraine-Russia crisis, declaring its goal to achieve lasting peace.
