Turkey’s UN Representative: Israel’s Complete Withdrawal from Gaza is Essential
Turkey’s representative to the United Nations emphasized the necessity of the unconditional and complete withdrawal of the Israeli regime from the Gaza Strip.
The Turkish diplomat stated that Israel’s newly passed law authorizing the imposition of the death penalty on Palestinian detainees constitutes a serious and unprecedented violation of international humanitarian law.
He added that the humanitarian operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) are facing major obstacles due to Israel’s actions.
Turkey’s UN representative declared: “We firmly reject the settlement policies and the actions of the officials of the Zionist occupation regime in the Palestinian territories.”
He went on to stress the necessity of Israel’s full withdrawal from Gaza, the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire, and the uninterrupted facilitation of humanitarian aid deliveries to the region.
In another part of his remarks, the Turkish official condemned Israel’s attack on Syrian territory, calling it a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.
He concluded by saying: “We welcome the establishment of a ceasefire in Lebanon through US mediation and consider it an important step towards halting Israel’s aggression against Lebanon.”
