Fidan: Preventing the return of war to the region is essential
Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated on Wednesday: Extending the ceasefire, and more importantly, preventing the return of war to the Middle East (West Asia) is vital. We trust the diplomatic capabilities of our brothers in Pakistan, and we continue to support the negotiation efforts (between Iran and the United States) in that country.
He added during this press conference: It is very important for the parties to demonstrate their readiness to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Successive crises around the world have made cooperation between Turkey and European countries necessary.
Regarding Ankara’s continued efforts to join the European Union, Hakan Fidan also said: The European Union suffers from a lack of political will, and we hope to overcome this problem. There are many unresolved issues between Turkey and the European Union, while relations between Europe and Turkey should be based on sound cooperation.
