Congratulatory Message from the President of Iran to Erdoğan
Today, October 29, the 102nd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic in Turkey was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. Streets and neighborhoods were adorned with national flags and portraits of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, while schools marked this historic day with a variety of programs. In addition, concerts, public festivities, and official ceremonies were held in different cities of Turkey as well as in the country’s diplomatic missions abroad.
The Republic of Turkey was officially proclaimed on October 29, 1923, under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and with the approval of the Grand National Assembly. Following the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne on July 24 of the same year and the recognition of the independence of the new state, the republican system was established and the presidency was entrusted to Atatürk. With this transformation, the fundamental principle of “Sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the nation” was affirmed as the basis of governance. Furthermore, on October 13, 1923, Ankara was declared the capital of the new Republic of Turkey.
On this occasion, Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, sent a congratulatory message to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Turkey, and to the Turkish nation. In his message, he referred to the deep historical and cultural ties between the two nations and expressed hope that, through joint efforts and continued consultations, relations between Tehran and Ankara would further expand in the political, economic, cultural, and international spheres.
