Erdoğan: Recognizing Palestine is a decisive response to occupation
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized in remarks on the issue of Palestine that recognizing the State of Palestine constitutes a decisive response to occupation and blockade.
Pointing to the necessity of achieving lasting peace in the region, he said: “Just peace will only be possible when the Palestinian people are able to establish an independent state within the 1967 borders.”
Erdoğan added: “The recent decision by the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada to recognize Palestine will strengthen the process of realizing the two‑state solution, and this approach can contribute to regional stability.”
He also referred to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and called on the international community to pay attention to the difficult conditions faced by the Palestinian people. According to him, ending the blockade and occupation is a responsibility that rests with all countries and international institutions.
The Turkish President further addressed the role of the United Nations, stressing that reforming the structure of this body is necessary for it to play a more effective role in resolving crises. He noted that the question of Palestine is a test for the effectiveness of the international system, and the global community must assume responsibility in this regard.
