Erdogan: The Solution to the Cyprus Issue is Two Independent States
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking to journalists accompanying him on his return from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, emphasized: “The key to resolving the Cyprus issue is two independent states. There will be no compromise on this matter.”
Regarding recent developments in Syria, Erdogan stated: “Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has taken a firm stance there, and so far, there has been no retreat.”
The Turkish President added: “Israel does not want stability in the region. It believes that a unified Syria is not in its interest, which is why it continues such provocative actions. While all actors who normally cannot come together have gathered around the Syrian issue, the world must be told that Israel is disrupting this stability project. We do not want the division of Syria. We see the improvement of the situation in Syria as beneficial and positive for our own country.”
On the war in Gaza, Erdogan said: “We have never removed Gaza from our agenda, and we never will. We will continue to stand by Gaza.”
He further noted: “The people of Gaza have not surrendered until today, and I believe they will not surrender from now on. Israel attacks everywhere like a bloodthirsty monster, but it will become the victim of its own ambition.”
