Istanbul Airport Ranked as the World’s Fifth Busiest
Istanbul Airport, with an average of 1,624 daily flights, has claimed the title of the busiest airport in Europe and the fifth busiest in the world in terms of passenger density.
Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, stated in a written announcement: “With this volume of flights, Istanbul Airport has secured first place in Europe and fifth place worldwide.”
He added that Turkey, with an average of 4,200 daily flights, ranks sixth among European countries with the highest air traffic, surpassing nations such as Greece, the Netherlands, and Poland.
According to Uraloğlu, between September 1 and 7 alone, Istanbul Airport, with an average of 821 daily flights, ranked fifth among the world’s 25 busiest international airports.
