Large-scale operation against FETÖ in 39 provinces of Turkey
Turkey’s Minister of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, announced that out of 160 suspects detained in operations against the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) across 39 provinces, 90 have been arrested, while judicial control measures have been imposed on 52 others.
In a statement published on his account on Turkey’s domestic social media platform NSosyal, Yerlikaya explained that the operations were carried out in provinces including Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, in coordination with the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor and the departments of Counterterrorism, Organized Crime, and Intelligence of the General Directorate of Security.
According to Yerlikaya, the detained suspects were users of the encrypted communication application ByLock, affiliated with FETÖ, and continued to communicate with members of the organization through public telephones. He added that these individuals were active in various FETÖ structures, including the covert Foreign Ministry network, as well as educational, financial, military, and other clandestine branches.
The Minister of Interior further emphasized that individuals with finalized prison sentences and outstanding arrest warrants were also apprehended during the operations. He concluded his statement by saying:
“The traps set against the national will are being dismantled one by one. Our struggle against those who threaten the integrity of our country and the peace of our nation will continue with determination.”
