Turkey Welcomes U.S. Lifting of Sanctions on Syria
Öncü Keçeli, Spokesperson for the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented on the lifting of U.S. sanctions against Syria in a post on the social media platform X, stating: “We welcome the strong resolve of the U.S. government to normalize relations with Syria.”
Keçeli emphasized in his post that the “strong will” of the U.S. administration to “normalize” relations with the Syrian government is a positive step, adding: “In this context, the removal of another significant set of sanctions on Syria is a positive development.”
He further stressed that Turkey will continue to contribute to Syria’s reconstruction through both public and private sectors, in cooperation with regional and international stakeholders.
