Turkish Foreign Minister to Visit Iran Tomorrow
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will arrive in Tehran tomorrow (November 30) to meet with senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to official sources, Fidan will hold talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and other high-ranking officials during his visit. The main agenda of the discussions includes reviewing the framework of the Iran–Turkey High-Level Cooperation Council, preparing for the ninth meeting of the council to be chaired by the presidents of the two countries, as well as addressing security issues and counterterrorism.
In addition, topics such as the development of transportation and communications, increasing bilateral trade volume to $30 billion, developments in the South Caucasus, regional stability, the importance of reaching a swift diplomatic solution to Iran’s nuclear issue, and condemnation of Israeli attacks against Iran will also be discussed.
Reports indicate that the total foreign trade volume between Iran and Turkey reached approximately $6.5 billion in October of this year. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan last visited Iran on July 19, 2022. Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, also visited Turkey on June 21 of this year within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ meeting.
It should be noted that the eighth meeting of the “Iran–Turkey High-Level Cooperation Council,” chaired by the presidents of the two countries, was held on January 24, 2024, in Ankara.
