Fidan: Turkiye and Azerbaijan relations are unshakable
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan traveled to Azerbaijan to attend the seventh summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia. Speaking to journalists in Baku, Fidan stated that the principle of “Two states, one nation” between Turkiye and Azerbaijan is evident in all areas.
Fidan said, “There is an unshakable bond of friendship and brotherhood between our leaders. This bond has been tested in very difficult times, in times of war and crisis.”
Noting that Turkiye-Azerbaijan relations are built on strong strategic foundations, Fidan said that from time to time there may be different approaches on certain issues, but these approaches should not be abused to weaken the strategic relations between the two countries.
Pointing out that Turkiye-Azerbaijan relations will be decisive in the future as in the past, the Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized the need to avoid attitudes that weaken these relations.
Regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, Fidan stated that Turkiye’s position is to stop the war.
Emphasizing that maritime security in the Black Sea is very important, Fidan noted that the situation in the region has a great impact on global food markets.
The Turkish Foreign Minister said, “Trade restrictions in the Black Sea lead to serious negative consequences. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz and intermittent restrictions in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait exacerbate the challenges facing the global economy, especially developing countries.”
Emphasizing Turkiye’s efforts to resolve this issue, Fidan reported that necessary steps continue to be taken to ensure maritime security in the Black Sea.
