8 Islamic Countries Condemn Israel’s Action in the West Bank
The Foreign Ministers of Turkey and seven other countries, including Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, strongly condemned Israel’s recent decision to declare parts of the West Bank as “state lands” in a joint statement.
In the statement, signed by the Foreign Ministers of Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, Israel’s action in declaring parts of the occupied West Bank as “state lands” and initiating the process of registering their ownership was described as an illegal act aimed at accelerating settlement expansion, confiscating land, and consolidating control over occupied Palestinian territory.
The Foreign Ministers of these countries emphasized that this action is a clear violation of international law, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2334 (2016).
The statement further noted that this decision is in complete contradiction with the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which deems any change in the legal, historical, and demographic status of the occupied Palestinian territory as illegal.
The signatories of the statement warned that such actions represent an attempt to impose new legal and administrative realities in the occupied territory and undermine the prospects of a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state.
At the conclusion of the statement, the international community was called upon to take decisive and immediate action to halt such violations, ensure respect for international law, and uphold the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to self-determination and to establish an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
