Action against the U.S. regarding its stance on the PKK/YPG
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that his country will launch an extensive diplomatic campaign in summer 2025 against the United States’ dual stance regarding the PKK/YPG. This decision was discussed during a meeting with representatives of the Justice and Development Party, where U.S. policies in the Middle East were examined.

Diplomatic campaign and regional cooperation
Fidan emphasized that U.S. policies in the Middle East prioritize Israel’s security, which has increased the importance of Turkey’s contacts with Arab countries in the region. He also announced Turkey’s plans to diversify defense cooperation with Gulf countries in the second half of 2025.
The Palestinian issue
Minister Fidan criticized the position of the U.S. and Israel regarding the forced displacement of Palestinians, stating that Egypt and Jordan have refused to accept these individuals. He also referenced U.S. efforts to relocate Palestinians to countries in Africa and Asia-Pacific, adding that these proposals have not yet received substantial support.
U.S.-China tensions
Fidan commented on the trade war between the U.S. and China, stating that this competition has extended beyond tariffs into the realms of technology and global supply chains. He presented Turkey as an attractive destination for Western companies seeking to relocate their supply chains.
The Imamoglu case
Minister Fidan also announced the submission of an explanatory note to diplomatic missions regarding the arrest of Ekrem Imamoglu on charges of financial corruption. He pointed to the double standards of European countries in assessing this case and stated that their criticisms would not be taken seriously.
