Bilateral Talks Between Turkey and South Korea in Ankara
President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan officially welcomed President of South Korea Lee Jae-myung at the Presidential Complex in Beştepe, Ankara.
Mounted cavalry escorted the official vehicle of the South Korean President from the street in front of the Beştepe Complex to the ceremonial gate. Erdoğan greeted Lee at the main entrance of the complex. Following the performance of the national anthems of both countries, 21 symbolic cannon salutes were fired, and 16 soldiers carrying flags representing the 16 historic Turkish states were present at the ceremony.
After Lee inspected the honor guard, the two presidents introduced their delegations and posed for a commemorative photo at the foot of the complex stairs, in front of the flags of both nations. Subsequently, bilateral talks between Erdoğan and Lee began, and a joint press conference is scheduled to follow the meeting.
During the South Korean President’s visit to Ankara, three cooperation agreements were signed between the two countries in the presence of Erdoğan and Lee Jae-myung.
After private meetings and inter-delegation talks at the Presidential Complex, the official signing ceremony was held:
Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Commemorating the Korean War between the Ministry of Family and Social Services of Turkey and the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of South Korea, signed by Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş and Kwon Oh-hol.
Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Nuclear Energy between the Turkish Nuclear Energy Company (TUNAŞ) and the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), signed by Necati Yamaç and Kim Dong-cheol.
Memorandum of Understanding in the Field of Transportation and Infrastructure between the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey, the General Directorate of Highways, the Korea Expressway Corporation, and the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation, signed by Ahmet Gülşen and Jeong Yeon-doo.
