Damascus: Israel must withdraw from occupied Syrian areas
The Foreign Minister of Syria announced that the demands of Israel are the main obstacle to Damascus and Tel Aviv reaching a peace agreement and called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied Syrian areas.
Asaad Hassan al Shibani, emphasizing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, noted that Israel must accept the reality of Syria and respect the rights and sovereignty of this country.
He considered the occupation of areas of Syrian territory by Israel after the eighth of December illegal and, emphasizing that the Golan Heights are part of Syrian territory, called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from these areas.
The Foreign Minister of Syria also emphasized the readiness of Damascus to continue negotiations and defend the country and its citizens and said that respect by Israel for the territorial integrity of Syria is the condition for creating secure and stable borders.
Al Shibani in the end emphasized the need to pay attention to the concerns of Syria about foreign interventions and violations of the sovereignty of this country.
