CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company: The contract with Turkey will continue
The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company announced the extension of the natural gas export contract with Turkey, emphasizing that this issue is among the company’s top priorities.
Saeed Tokoli stated: “Iran’s natural gas contract with Turkey will definitely be extended. We insist on the continuation of long-term contracts, and the extension of the contract with Turkey is one of our most important priorities.”
He added: “Turkey remains a customer of Iranian gas, and based on the negotiations held, the process of extending the contract is on the agenda. The details regarding the volume, method, and mechanism of cooperation will be determined during the talks.”
Tokoli noted: “The current contract is valid until 2026 and will also be extended for the years thereafter.”
He also referred to the conditions of the regional gas market, saying: “The regional gas market has become highly situational, short-term, and time-consuming. On the one hand, U.S. LNG production has increased; on the other hand, restrictions have been imposed on the exports of some countries. Moreover, a large portion of the available gas in the region has already been allocated.”
