Condolences from Iran and Azerbaijan and the Launch of Investigation into Turkey’s C130 Cargo Plane Crash
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, following the crash of a Turkish military aircraft on the Georgia–Azerbaijan border, issued a message expressing sympathy with the government and people of Turkey. In this message, Esmaeil Bekaee prayed for divine forgiveness for the victims and patience and fortitude for the bereaved families and survivors of the incident.
Turkey’s Minister of National Defense, Yaşar Güler, announced in a statement that the identities of the 20 soldiers who lost their lives in the crash had been confirmed. These brave servicemen were martyred on November 11, 2025, when a C130 cargo plane flying from Azerbaijan to Turkey crashed on the Georgia–Azerbaijan border.
Yaşar Güler, Minister of National Defense of Turkey, in his condolence message, prayed for mercy upon the martyrs and patience for the grieving families, offering condolences to the Turkish nation for this tragic incident. The Ministry of National Defense also emphasized that search, rescue, and crash investigation operations began that same morning in close cooperation with Georgian authorities.
Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, in a message to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Turkey, expressed sympathy with the families of the victims and the Turkish nation, conveying the deepest condolences of himself and the people of Azerbaijan. Zakir Hasanov, Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, also sent a condolence message to Yaşar Güler, Minister of National Defense of Turkey.
