Economic and cultural cooperation between Turkey and Syria
Omer Bolat, the Turkish Minister of Trade, stated during his visit to Damascus that Syria’s infrastructure, economic laws, and institutional capacities are currently undergoing reconstruction. He emphasized that the Turkish government is prepared to provide the necessary support to strengthen institutional capacities and address infrastructure deficiencies.
Bolat, in his meeting with Mohammad Nidal Al-Shaar, the Syrian Minister of Economy, emphasized the longstanding and historical relations between the two countries. He stated that Turkey and Syria share a thousand-year history and that during the civil war, Turkey was affected more than any other country after Syria.
He also expressed optimism about Syria’s future and stated that the Turkish government and its people have always stood by the Syrian people.

The Turkish Minister of Trade also referred to the increase in cultural and social ties between the two countries and added that it is estimated that approximately four million people in Syria speak Turkish today. These individuals will play a fundamental role in establishing economic and cultural links between Turkey and the Arab world.
He further stated that trade begins with neighbors and expands through this process.
Bolat emphasized the importance of economic integration between Turkey and Syria, considering this process a fundamental step toward strengthening convergence among the countries of the region.
