Elevating the Relationship Between Türkiye and Egypt to a Strategic Level
According to sources in Türkiye, Abdul Fattah al-Sisi’s visit to Turkey will take place in early September. This is the first visit of the Egyptian president to Türkiye since coming to power in 2014. The relationship between Türkiye and Egypt turned cold after the overthrow of the government of Mohamed Morsi. At the same time, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during a trip to Egypt, created grounds for increasing the level of communication between the two countries. The two countries established a strategic council to promote the event at different levels. This council is supposed to propose necessary measures and plans to the presidents for implementation. It seems that during Al-Sisi’s visit to Turkey, the chairmanship of the strategic council will be available to the presidents for necessary decisions.
This could create a new trend in the Eastern Mediterranean.
