Erdoğan: Changing the status of Jerusalem and violating the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque is unacceptable
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, speaking at the opening ceremony of the 41st session of the COMCEC at the Istanbul Congress Center, stressed: “We are facing a state that, since the ceasefire agreement, has massacred more than 200 innocent people and continues its occupation and attacks in the West Bank.”
He added: “The annexation of the West Bank, the alteration of the status of Jerusalem, and any attempt to harm the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque are unacceptable. Within the framework of the COMCEC Jerusalem Program, this year we will add eight new projects to the 20 previously implemented.”
Erdoğan also announced the launch of a special support program for Syria, saying: “Thanks to our efforts, the sanctions that had posed a serious obstacle to Syria’s economic development are gradually being lifted.”
Referring to the ceasefire in Gaza, he stated: “Hamas appears fully determined to adhere to the agreement; however, Israel’s record in this regard is extremely negative.”
The Turkish president also addressed the developments in Sudan, emphasizing: “We must safeguard the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Sudan; standing by the people of Sudan is of great importance.”
Finally, referring to the massacre of civilians in El-Fasher, Erdoğan said: “No one with a living conscience can accept these atrocities; we will not remain silent in the face of them.”
