Erdoğan Hosts Gabonese Counterpart: 8 Bilateral Agreements Signed
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hosted Gabon’s President Brice Oligui Nguema at the Presidential Complex in Ankara on Wednesday. During the official meeting, held with full protocol, the two leaders emphasized enhancing bilateral cooperation. The talks resulted in the signing of eight cooperation agreements across various fields.
Strategic Agreements Cover Key Areas
During the meeting, ministers from both countries signed eight cooperation documents, the most significant of which include:
– Defense Cooperation: Two agreements on military training and medical collaboration between the armed forces
– Energy: Three memoranda in the fields of oil, natural gas, and renewable energy
– Infrastructure and Mining: Agreement on mineral exploration and energy infrastructure development
– Education and Diplomacy: Student exchange programs and cooperation between foreign ministries



Erdoğan: “There Are Plenty of Cooperation Opportunities”
At a joint press conference, the Turkish president stated:
“Turkish companies have so far invested $2.5 billion in construction and energy projects in Gabon.”
He also expressed Turkey’s readiness to participate in new projects in housing, digital technology, agriculture, and mineral exploration.
Shared Stance on the Gaza Crisis
Erdoğan addressed the humanitarian situation in Gaza, saying:
“The recent move by some European countries to recognize a Palestinian state is a positive step.”
He called on the international community to take urgent action to stop the violence in Gaza. The Gabonese president also condemned the violence and stressed the need for a swift resolution to the crisis.

Nguema: “Turkey Is an Important Partner”
The Gabonese leader described the meeting as a sign of “strategic relations” between the two countries, stating:
“Cooperation with Turkish companies has contributed to the advancement of Gabon’s infrastructure.”
He also announced plans to hold a “Turkey-Gabon Business Forum” in Istanbul and invited Erdoğan for an official visit to Libreville.

According to the announced schedule, the Gabonese president met with Turkish business leaders in Istanbul the following day. The official visit concluded with a dinner hosted by Erdoğan.
