Erdogan is heading to the United States for negotiations with Trump: Omer Bolat, Turkey’s Minister of Commerce, announced that Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, intends to travel to the United States in May to negotiate with Donald Trump, the President of the United States, regarding the new tariffs imposed on Turkish exports to the United States.
Referring to the new tariffs announced by the President of the United States on April 2, 2025 (13 Farvardin 1404), he stated that a 10% customs duty will be applied to Turkish exports to the United States.
The President of the United States, during a ceremony at the White House, established a base tariff of 10% for all imported goods. He also announced the imposition of a 34% tariff on imports from China, as well as tariffs of 20% and 24% on imports from the European Union and Japan, respectively. He emphasized that this declaration represents the economic independence of the United States.
