Erdoğan Issues Statement on Putin-Trump Talks
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of Turkey, reacted to the meeting between Donald Trump, the President of the United States, and Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, in Alaska, stating that this meeting could accelerate efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war. In a statement, he emphasized:
“The meeting between President Trump and President Putin in Alaska has given fresh momentum to the process of ending the Russia-Ukraine war. Turkey is ready to provide any assistance to achieve peace. We welcome the Alaska meeting and hope that this new process, with the participation of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, will lay the foundation for lasting peace.”

Details of the Trump-Putin Meeting
The three-hour meeting between Trump and Putin in Alaska involved discussions that both sides described as “constructive.”
Putin stated: “The situation in Ukraine stems from security threats against us. Russia desires an end to this war. I thank Trump; we had constructive talks and are willing to reach an agreement on Ukraine.”
Trump also said: “Today, we took important steps. We made progress on key issues, but no agreement has been reached yet. I will speak with NATO and Zelenskyy.”
During the meeting, Putin asked Trump to cede Ukraine’s Donetsk region to Russia.
Putin Invites Trump to Visit Moscow
During the Alaska meeting, Putin invited Trump to visit Moscow. If accepted, this would be the first trip by a U.S. president to Russia since 2009; the last time was when Barack Obama traveled to Russia during his presidency.
