Erdoğan: Without stopping Israel, the establishment of a Palestinian state will remain incomplete
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Turkey and leader of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), in his speech at the Bosphorus Diplomacy Forum—organized by the Young Diplomacy Association under the auspices of the Presidency of Turkey on the “Island of Democracy and Freedoms”—took a strong stance against Israel and the Prime Minister of this regime, Benjamin Netanyahu.
Referring to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Erdoğan said: “In Gaza, hunger is recklessly being used as a weapon of mass destruction.” He added: “Yesterday, the head of the genocide network could not find anyone in the United Nations General Assembly to listen to his lies and threats, and thus he spoke to empty chairs.”
He stressed: “Netanyahu, his cabinet, and the genocide cadre must immediately be tried and punished.” The Turkish President warned: “Without stopping Israel, the will to establish a Palestinian state will remain incomplete.”
Erdoğan also criticized the structure of the international order established after World War II, stating: “The order established by the victors of the Second World War has lost both its functionality and its credibility. Universal values have been abandoned, governance mechanisms have collapsed, and the international system has been completely paralyzed.”
Emphasizing Turkey’s stance in supporting oppressed nations, he added: “Every life lost in the streets of Gaza, Yemen, Syria, Sudan, and Somalia takes a life from us as well.”
Addressing Netanyahu, Erdoğan said: “Do not take the curse of the oppressed upon yourself, calm down.” He further underlined that Israel must bear the economic costs of rebuilding Gaza and that deterrent sanctions should be imposed on this regime, including exclusion from international sporting events.
According to him, more than 150 countries have so far recognized Palestine. Erdoğan described this step as “important, though belated,” and asked: “Could Palestine not have been recognized without the death of thousands of innocent people?”
In conclusion, the Turkish President referred to the “Samud Fleet” heading toward Gaza, saying: “We salute the passengers of hope in the Samud Fleet and pray that God guides and protects them.”
