Erdoğan’s Congratulatory Message on the Occasion of Azerbaijan’s Independence
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on Saturday, October 18, issued a message on the social media platform Next Social to congratulate the government and people of Azerbaijan on the thirty-fourth anniversary of the country’s independence.
In his message, Erdoğan wrote: “I sincerely congratulate the thirty-fourth anniversary of October 18, the Independence Day of our brotherly and long-standing friend Azerbaijan. On this proud day, I extend my warmest greetings to my dear brother Ilham Aliyev and to all the people of Azerbaijan.”
He also emphasized the strategic relations and historical ties between the two countries, describing Azerbaijan’s independence as “a source of common pride for Turkic nations.”
The Republic of Azerbaijan declared its independence from the Soviet Union on October 18, 1991. Since then, Turkey was the first country to recognize Azerbaijan’s independence, and over the past three decades, bilateral relations have significantly expanded in political, economic, military, and cultural fields.
