Four workers lose their lives due to tornado in Antalya
Due to a tornado that occurred in the Kepez district of Antalya Province, two container housing units for construction workers were destroyed and four workers lost their lives.
The incident occurred in Fevzi Cakmak neighborhood in the Kepez district of Antalya. The tornado shattered two containers where construction workers were living, and five workers were thrown out.
According to authorities, two of these workers died at the scene and two others died after being taken to hospital. Another worker was injured, and his health condition was reported as good.
The Governor of Antalya announced to reporters that the tornado occurred unexpectedly in a mountainous area, moved along a path of several hundred meters, and destroyed everything in its way.
The Governor of Antalya, stating that the two destroyed containers were the workers accommodation, said: Unfortunately, all four workers who were in one of these containers lost their lives. The worker inside the other container was also injured, but his condition is good.
He added that after daylight, the entire area was searched again and no other dead or injured people were found. According to him, 9 vehicles were also damaged in this incident, and parts of the containers were thrown up to a distance of several hundred meters, including onto the roof of a kindergarten.
The Governor of Antalya, referring to the start of judicial proceedings in this regard, announced that the owner of the construction site, its last manager, and other officials are under investigation by the Public Prosecutors Office.
