Funeral Ceremony for 20 Martyrs of the Turkish Armed Forces Air Accident
The funeral ceremony for 20 martyrs of the Turkish Armed Forces was held in the capital Ankara with the participation of senior government officials.
This ceremony was organized following the crash of a Turkish Air Force C-130 military transport aircraft, tail number 68-1609, which went down on November 11 at the Azerbaijan–Georgia border, resulting in the martyrdom of 20 servicemen. The event took place at Mürted Air Base in Ankara.
During the official ceremony, after paying respects to the martyrs, verses from the Holy Qur’an were recited, and Hafız Osman Şahin, Deputy President of Religious Affairs of Turkey, offered prayers for them.
After the names and identities of the martyrs were read aloud, their bodies were carried on the shoulders of soldiers to the aircraft and sent to their hometowns for funeral rites and burial.
