Hakan Fidan: PKK will also be eliminated
Hakan Fidan, the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, in a joint press conference with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar in Doha, stated that just as ISIS was eliminated from the scene, PKK will also be eliminated from the scene, whether peacefully and voluntarily or by other means.
He emphasized that Turkey will not accept any initiative targeting Syria’s territorial integrity or undermining its sovereignty, and any action allowing this country to bear arms outside the central authority in Syria will be rejected.
Fidan, referring to Ankara’s desire to see the drafting of a constitution and the establishment of a government in Syria that provides equal opportunities for all groups, added that positive steps have been taken in this regard.
He also referred to the difficult conditions in Syria and stated that meetings have been held with Qatar and other regional countries to discuss possible solutions regarding development, economy, and sanctions.

Fidan emphasized that Turkey will continue to stand firm against groups attempting to exploit the current situation in Syria and harm the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, referring to the agreement signed in recent months between the YPG and the Syrian government, stated that it is expected this agreement will be implemented, and Turkey’s sensitivity on this matter is entirely clear. He called on the terrorist group PKK to respond positively to this request as soon as possible, lay down their arms, and cease obstructing the path to a return to normalcy in the region.
He added that this region has faced years of war, chaos, occupation, blood, and tears, and now it is time to move beyond these conditions and establish a prosperous, secure, respectful, and free system.
Fidan concluded by stating that the time has come for actors who continue to use outdated terrorist methods and armed tactics to create trouble for regional governments to be eliminated from the scene.
