NATO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Brussels
The meeting of NATO member states’ foreign ministers began today in Brussels. The gathering is aimed at reviewing preparations for the NATO Summit scheduled for July 2026 in Ankara, addressing growing threats to collective security, and supporting Ukraine.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, in his opening speech at the organization’s headquarters, emphasized: “Since the Hague Summit, allies have made significant progress in strengthening collective defense. Preparations for the upcoming summit in Ankara are now on the agenda.”

He further noted: “Russia is not acting alone; it is working closely with China, North Korea, and Iran to destabilize our societies and disregard international law.”
In the first session of the meeting, NATO’s main priorities were discussed. It is expected that the Russia-Ukraine war and recent developments in Euro-Atlantic security will be at the center of deliberations.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels. Their talks focused on efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, preparations for the 2026 NATO Summit in Ankara, and coordination between Turkey’s defense industry and NATO member states.
