Ongoing Efforts to Contain Forest Fires in Muğla and Antalya
Large-scale forest fires in the provinces of Muğla and Antalya continue to burn.
In the Köyceğiz district of Muğla, flames that broke out yesterday have spread further due to strong winds, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of homes and the relocation of residents to safe areas. Many livestock have also been removed from the region, while warehouses and barns have sustained damage.
In Muğla’s Milas district, another fire that started along a roadside has been largely brought under control thanks to the round-the-clock efforts of forestry teams and the support of local volunteers.

In Antalya province, a fire that began in the Yaylakonak neighborhood of Alanya spread quickly to several nearby neighborhoods. Houses in Şıhlar were evacuated, and several people were affected by smoke inhalation.
Part of the fire has been extinguished in the neighborhoods of Ali Efendi and İspatlı, but in Yaylakonak and Şıhlar the flames are still active. According to reports, hundreds of hectares of farmland and forest, along with several buildings, have been damaged.
In the province of Balıkesir, a forest fire broke out in the Sındırgı district. Thanks to the swift intervention of local teams, the fire was contained, and cooling operations are ongoing.
Turkey’s Minister of Agriculture and Forestry announced that the fire in Köyceğiz has been largely brought under control, while in Alanya the intensity of the flames has decreased. Meanwhile, the Turkish Red Crescent has deployed staff and volunteers to support the firefighting operations and provide assistance to affected residents.
