Speaker of the Turkish Parliament: No One Has the Right to Poison Syria with Terrorists
During a joint press conference in Ankara with Francina Armengol, the President of the Congress of Deputies of Spain, Numan Kurtulmuş, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, referred to recent developments in Syria and emphasized: “Enough is enough. After 60 years of oppression and 13 years of civil war, no one has the right to poison Syria through terrorist groups. Syria belongs to the Syrians, and we are all determined to build a common future for this country.”
He also commented on the process of a terrorism-free Turkey: “The activities of the relevant commission have reached the final stage, and my colleagues are working to bring this process to a conclusion as soon as possible.”
In another part of his remarks, Kurtulmuş referred to bilateral relations between Turkey and Spain, praising the extensive cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, defense, industry, energy, maritime affairs, tourism, education, and culture. He added: “Turkish Airlines’ flights to cities in Spain have also made a significant contribution to strengthening the ties between the two countries.”
The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, noting the shared perspectives of the two countries on various international issues, stated that the stance of the Spanish government and people in condemning the continued violence in Gaza, despite the declared ceasefire, deserves appreciation.
Recalling Spain’s action in recognizing the State of Palestine and the country’s emphasis on a two-state solution, he noted: “The recognition of Palestine by other countries strengthens the struggle for justice.”
Finally, in response to a question about the report of the National Solidarity, Fraternity, and Democracy Commission—which is being prepared within the framework of the goal of a terrorism-free Turkey—Kurtulmuş once again emphasized that this process is on the verge of completion.
