President Erdoğan’s Message on the Anniversary of Mevlana
The President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in a message marking the 752nd anniversary of the passing of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, the great thinker, mystic, and spiritual leader, commemorated his memory with mercy and respect.
In this message, which was read at the commemoration ceremony held at the Mevlana Cultural Center, Erdoğan stated: “In the Century of Türkiye, which we aim to build by strengthening unity and solidarity, Mevlana’s eternal teachings continue to guide us.”
Referring to the more than seven and a half centuries since Mevlana’s passing, Erdoğan said:
“Mevlana is not only the common conscience, breath, and wisdom of these lands, but also a spiritual treasure for all humanity. He is a source of love and a refuge of compassion that unites nations.”
He added:
“Mevlana’s wisdom-filled teachings have illuminated these lands and have become an eternal seal of love, unity, and brotherhood. In an age of threats and negativity, the value of Mevlana’s teachings—which prioritize peace, love, unity, and solidarity—becomes ever clearer. Inspired by him, we embrace all humanity, extend a helping hand to the oppressed, and stand firmly against oppressors.”
In conclusion, Erdoğan emphasized that Mevlana’s teachings are a legacy for all humankind, noting:
“This night is not a night of separation; it is the joy of meeting with God and the peace of union. We regard it as an opportunity to renew our hearts and strengthen our faith. With these feelings and thoughts, we commemorate all our spiritual leaders, especially Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, with mercy, gratitude, and respect, and I pray that this night brings peace, goodness, and tranquility to all humanity.”
