Quadripartite Meeting of Turkey, US, Saudi Arabia and Syria
A virtual meeting was held yesterday where the presidents of Turkey, the US, and Syria, along with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, discussed important regional issues. This online meeting addressed topics including international sanctions on Syria, counterterrorism efforts, and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated during the meeting that his country supports establishing stability and security in Syria. Emphasizing Turkey’s readiness to cooperate with regional actors in fighting terrorist organizations including ISIS, Erdoğan expressed his satisfaction with the US decision to lift sanctions on Syria.
In another part of his speech, Erdoğan addressed the humanitarian situation in Gaza, stating: “The catastrophic situation in Gaza requires urgent intervention by the international community. Turkey supports all efforts to stop the violence and deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.” He added that Ankara would continue its diplomatic efforts to find a lasting solution to this crisis.

US President Donald Trump announced in a statement after the meeting that all economic sanctions on Syria would be lifted. Trump stated this decision was made following consultations with Turkish and Saudi officials. The US President also requested the Syrian government to take responsibility for prisons controlled by armed groups in northern Syria.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza was another agenda item of the meeting. Participants exchanged views on the need to improve living conditions for Palestinian civilians and reduce tensions. In his remarks, Trump briefly touched on Iran’s nuclear program, stressing the need to maintain international sanctions against Tehran.
Analysts evaluate this meeting – held at a time when recent developments between regional countries indicate a desire to reduce tensions and seek diplomatic solutions – as an important step toward changing regional dynamics.
