Uganda: We Will Send 100,000 Soldiers to Defend Israel Against Turkey
“Musa Baliraine Kainerugaba” made a controversial and unexpected statement, announcing his country’s full readiness to mobilize these forces and dispatch them urgently to the occupied territories.
Kainerugaba, the son of the Ugandan President, attributed this stance to “sacred religious motivations,” emphasizing that the army under his command is ready to fight to defend “the Land of Christ.” He also declared his full support for any military action by Israel or the United States against Iran.
Following these stances, Kainerugaba, in a rare move on the diplomatic stage, described Turkey as “the main problem” in the region and threatened that if “pending issues” are not resolved, he will completely sever diplomatic relations, ban Turkish Airlines flights, and expel this country’s diplomatic missions within 30 days.
He did not specify what these “pending issues” are, but criticized Turkey’s historical role in the Horn of Africa and Somalia.
These statements were met with widespread reactions and mockery in international political circles, especially after he claimed that Ugandan forces could “seize Tehran within just 72 hours and without the need for air support.” Although he later retracted some of these statements, observers believe that this was an attempt to draw Uganda into major regional conflicts, beyond the country’s actual military capabilities.
It is known that the Ugandan President’s son has previously been recognized for his harsh and controversial stances on social media and also supported any attack on Iran in March.
He had emphasized that if Israel faces an existential threat, Uganda’s volunteer defense forces will take action; a matter that could put Kampala on a path of political confrontation with some regional powers supporting Tehran or countries with independent policies in Africa like Turkey.
It is also said that the commander of the Ugandan army has threatened Turkey and demanded a compensation of one billion dollars.
Kainerugaba accused Turkey of exploiting the security situation in Somalia without paying a commensurate cost for Uganda’s military role.
He added that if there is no response, the Turkish embassy in Kampala may be closed.
