Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Meets Senior Officials in Tajikistan
Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, during his official visit to Tajikistan, met Rustam Emomali, Chairman of the National Assembly of Tajikistan, in Dushanbe. Emomali welcomed him in front of the flags of both countries, then escorted Kurtulmuş to the plenary hall of the Assembly and provided information about parliamentary activities. Kurtulmuş signed the Honor Book of the National Assembly, and bilateral meetings between the delegations were held.
In this meeting, Kurtulmuş expressed gratitude for the hospitality of Tajik officials, emphasized the historical, cultural, civilizational, and religious commonalities between the two nations, and highlighted Tajikistan’s special place for Türkiye.

Kurtulmuş also met Fayzali Idizoda, Chairman of the Assembly of Representatives of Tajikistan, at the Buston Palace. The meeting began with a face-to-face session, followed by a joint session chaired by both sides.
The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, expressing satisfaction with his first official visit to Tajikistan at the level of parliamentary speaker, voiced hope that the trip would contribute to the development of relations and strengthen friendship and brotherhood between the two countries. He underlined the importance of cooperation in tourism, defense industry, textiles, and transportation, and announced Türkiye’s readiness for joint investments with Tajikistan.
He further noted that Central Asia has the potential to become a significant center of power in the new global balance and stressed the necessity of development for the countries of the region. Kurtulmuş proposed signing a memorandum of understanding between the parliaments of the two countries and emphasized closer cooperation in education, culture, and sports.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Kurtulmuş invited the Chairman of the Assembly of Representatives of Tajikistan to the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), scheduled to be held in Istanbul from April 15 to 19, 2026. He expressed appreciation for Tajikistan’s stance on the Palestinian issue, recalled the beginning of a new phase of diplomatic struggle in this regard, and stressed the necessity of establishing an independent State of Palestine within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
