Statement from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Regarding Huckabee’s Remarks on Israel
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a written statement, strongly condemned the recent remarks by Mike Huckabee, the US Ambassador to Israel, regarding Israel’s dominance over the entire Middle East.
Ankara stated that these words constitute a clear violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, warning that such statements seriously jeopardize the security and stability of the region.
The statement from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that these comments not only contradict the vision of peace and international plans to end the attacks on Gaza but also undermine efforts to establish a political horizon for achieving a comprehensive solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State.
Emphasizing that Israel has no sovereignty whatsoever over Palestinian territories and other occupied Arab lands, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs categorically rejected any attempt to annex the West Bank or separate the Gaza Strip. Ankara also strongly opposed settlement activities in the occupied territories and deemed any threat against the sovereignty of Arab countries as unacceptable.
The statement concluded that Israel’s continuation of expansionist policies and actions contrary to international law fuels the escalation of violence and conflict in the region and will cast further doubt on the future of peace.
