Turkey Among Top Three Teams at Buran-7 International Sniper Competition
The “Buran-7” International Sniper Competition was held from October 6 to 13 at the Gendarmerie Commando Training Center in Foça, İzmir.
According to the Turkish Gendarmerie General Command, this seventh edition of the competition brought together 13 participants from Turkey and 35 snipers from 20 friendly and allied countries. In total, 48 teams comprising 96 individuals took part, with their performances evaluated by five judges and 26 local observers.
The purpose of the event was to highlight the specialized role of snipers, strengthen professional culture, boost the morale and self-confidence of the forces, and promote the exchange of experience among personnel specialized in counterterrorism operations.
As part of the competition, a special section titled “Sniper Competition with Different Calibers” was also organized. On the designated Observers’ Day, programs included the “Steel Wings” demonstration, exhibition shooting, and parachute jumping. On the same day, a sniper from the Gendarmerie Special Public Security Command (JÖAK) successfully hit a target from a helicopter at a distance of 350 meters.
In the final results, the 2nd Team of the Turkish Special Forces Command secured first place, the 1st Team of the same command ranked second, and the 1st Team of the Turkish Gendarmerie General Command achieved third place.
The closing ceremony was held with the participation of the Commander of the Turkish Gendarmerie General Command, General Ali Çardakçı, during which awards were presented to the winners.
